Tipton Sports & Arts Complex

The Tipton Sports & Arts Complex was a collaborative effort between the Tipton Community Foundation, the Houghton Family Foundation, and the City of Tipton. Funding for the project was provided through the Houghton Family Foundation and administered by the Tipton Community Foundation. In addition to overseeing the project, Tipton Community Foundation board members contributed countless volunteer hours and donations toward the completion of the facility. They also secured grant funding.

Today, the City of Tipton owns and operates the complex, overseeing memberships to the fitness center, concession stand rentals, utilities, maintenance, and general upkeep.

The complex is located north of the football/baseball fields in Tipton on ground purchased by the City of Tipton from the Salina Diocese for one dollar. This allows the city to hold the deed to the property, resulting in a cleaner avenue for construction and operation of the facility.

Construction began in the fall of 2024. The concession stand opened for business in May of 2025, just in time for the first baseball game of the season. The arts studio was completed in the spring of 2026, and the fitness center opened in May of 2026, offering commercial exercise equipment for both individual and family memberships.

Many meetings were held between these groups to determine features in the project that will best serve the community.

The Tipton Sports & Arts Complex includes:

  • Food preparation kitchen/concession stand
  • Covered eating area for use during the annual church picnic, sports events, and other community gatherings
  • Fitness center that facilitates weights and exercise areas
  • Arts studio that hosts dance, piano, guitar, voice and other lessons
  • Sports storage area for use by the school system
  • Public restroom facilities
