This project is a collaborative effort between the Tipton Community Foundation, the City of Tipton, and the Houghton Family Foundation that is scheduled for completion sometime before the 2025 Tipton Church Picnic.
The complex will be located north of the football/baseball fields in Tipton on ground purchased by the City of Tipton from the Salina Diocese for one dollar. This allows the city to hold the deed to the property, resulting in a cleaner avenue for construction and operation of the facility.
Many meetings were held between these groups to determine features in the project that will best serve the community.
The Tipton Sports & Arts Complex will include:
- Food preparation kitchen
- Covered eating area for use during the annual church picnic, sports events, and other community gatherings
- Health and wellness section that facilities separate weights and exercise areas for senior citizens through young families
- Arts space that can host dance, piano, guitar, voice and other lessons
- Sports storage area for use by the school system
- Public restroom facilities
