The Tipton Sports & Arts Complex is a collaborative effort between the Tipton Community Foundation, the Houghton Family Foundation, and the City of Tipton. The spacious and attractive concession stand on the east end of the building opened for business on May 19, 2025, for the first baseball game of the season, and the new bathrooms were finished by then too. The arts and exercise rooms will be completed at later dates in 2025.
The complex is located north of the football/baseball fields in Tipton on ground purchased by the City of Tipton from the Salina Diocese for one dollar. This allows the city to hold the deed to the property, resulting in a cleaner avenue for construction and operation of the facility.
Many meetings were held between these groups to determine features in the project that will best serve the community.
The Tipton Sports & Arts Complex includes:
- Food preparation kitchen
- Covered eating area for use during the annual church picnic, sports events, and other community gatherings
- Health and wellness section that facilities separate weights and exercise areas for senior citizens through young families
- Arts space that can host dance, piano, guitar, voice and other lessons
- Sports storage area for use by the school system
- Public restroom facilities
